The NIRCA Cross Country Open is a 6K race taking place on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Blue River Country Course in Shelbyville, Indiana (725 Lee Boulevard, Shelbyville, IN 46176). The Open 6K serves as a precursor to the National Intercollegiate Running Club Association (NIRCA) National Championships; collegiate championship races are scheduled later the same day. Spikes may be worn at a runner's discretion. The race will be held in rain or shine.
Registration, entries and additional information
Online registration opens December 1, 2025 and closes two days before the event. Entry price listed for the Open 6K is $30; pricing increases starting November 1 and late or race-day registration will be available at the course. A 6K course map and an animated course file are provided by the host course. Merchandise, including a limited-edition NIRCA Nationals event tee and NIRCA-branded gear, will be available for sale at the event. Parking at the Blue River Cross Country Course is free. Special hotel blocks were reserved with a cutoff date of October 15.
The NIRCA 12K/14K Challenge allows athletes to combine the Open 6K with their collegiate race for a combined total of 12K or 14K; participation requires registration in both the appropriate collegiate race and the Open 6K. Volunteers for the collegiate championship races are offered a discount code for a complimentary entry to the Open 6K and receive event swag.
