Mulholland Under the Stars Trail Race
The Mulholland Under the Stars Trail Race takes place on Saturday, December 5, 2026 at Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park in Tarzana, CA. The event offers two trail distances and uses a lighted night course through the Santa Monica Mountains, where participants can see city lights and stars.
Distances
- 5K with 509 feet of elevation gain, out-and-back.
- 10K with 855 feet of elevation gain, reaches the Nike Missile Site.
All runners must start with a working headlamp or flashlight that lasts the whole race; lights are checked at bib pick-up and the MRCA safety protocol states no light equals no start. Aid stations are provided roughly at mile 1.5 for the 5K and mile 3.0 for the 10K. This is a cupless event, so participants should carry a bottle or container for fluids. The official cutoff time for both races is 8:00 PM.
At the finish line, participants receive a medal and race t-shirt. Awards ceremonies follow, and food and music are available after the race. The event follows Leave No Trace principles to reduce environmental impact. Volunteer roles are available and can earn race credits; volunteers register during the event sign-up process.
