Mount Lucia Trail Race

Mount Lucia Trail Race is scheduled for October 3, 2026 in Sioux City, Iowa. The event starts and finishes at the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center, located above the Big Sioux River in the Loess Hills. The event offers multiple short-distance options for different participants.

• 5 mile trail run, hike, or ruck
• 1k kids run for ages 12 and under

The course begins in the nature center parking area, briefly follows the access road, and then continues onto trails that use both Nature Center and Stone State Park routes. Trails are mostly double track with surfaces that include dirt, woodchip, and gravel. The route passes through deciduous forest, remnant prairie ridge tops, and steep valleys, and includes nearly 700 feet of elevation gain over the 5 mile course. As a trail event, runners may encounter uneven footing, rocks, roots, acorns, and sticks. The course will be marked with signs, flags, and ropes, and organizers will attempt to remove debris before the race.

Registration will be offered through Ultrasignup.com with a listed entry fee of $40 plus platform fees until the registration cutoff; race day registration may be available depending on numbers. Packet pickup is available the day before the event at Peak Performance and on race morning. While supplies last, 5 mile participants will receive a custom race logo mug from a local potter. Awards include custom trophies for the top three overall and medals for the top three in each age group: 29 and under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus.
