Mount Lucia Trail Race

Mount Lucia Trail Race is a trail event in Sioux City, Iowa, held on October 3, 2026. The event uses trails at the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center and nearby Stone State Park above the Big Sioux River in the Loess Hills.

Distances:

• 5 mile trail run, hike, or ruck
• 1k kids run for ages 12 and under

The route begins in the nature center parking area, briefly follows the access road, then continues onto mostly double-track trails. Surfaces include dirt, woodchip, and gravel. The course passes through deciduous forest, remnant prairie ridge tops, and steep valleys and uses both Nature Center and Stone State Park trails. The route has nearly 700 feet of elevation gain over 5 miles. Trail footing may be uneven and include rocks, roots, acorns, and sticks; organizers will attempt to clear major debris and will mark the course with signs, flags, and ropes.

Registration is available on Ultrasignup.com. Fees are $35 (plus Ultrasignup fees) through August 31 and $40 through September 30; race day registration may be available depending on numbers. Packets will be available at Peak Performance on Friday, October 2 and on race morning.

Participants in the 5 mile event receive a custom race logo mug while supplies last. Awards include custom trophies for the top three overall and magnetic awards for the top three in each age group: 29 and under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus. Volunteer roles include course setup and takedown, directing traffic, shuttling from offsite parking, and assisting with post-race refreshments; volunteers can register via Ultrasignup.
