Participants repeatedly ascend and descend 1,209 vertical feet each hour via two course options: three laps on the 403-foot T-bar path or one lap on a longer 1,209-foot green loop higher on the mountain. The race continues until only one runner remains, with the total ascent equaling the height from sea level to Mount Everest's summit if completed for 24 hours.
