Moscow Mountain Madness

Event

The Moscow Mountain Madness is a trail running event organized by Palouse Road Runners in Moscow, Idaho, on October 5, 2025. Distances offered:

• 50k
• Half marathon (13.1 miles)
• 5 Miler

The race began in 1978 and was reinstated in 1992 after an earlier hiatus. A bike race was included for a period but was dropped in 2010. The current half-marathon course was instituted in 2011. Registration is pre-registration only and closes on October 3, 2025. No refunds are offered; registrants may transfer their bib or change distance before registration closes. Tech shirts are available for order by September 5; the 50k has its own shirt. Awards are given for first place overall and masters in male, female, and nonbinary categories for each distance. Volunteers are needed for parking, bib pickup, start/finish shifts, aid stations, course marking, and course sweeping.

Course and logistics

All courses run on Moscow Mountain and are mostly technical single-track with some logging roads. The 50k route runs primarily on forest single-track with climbs and frequent aid stations; 50k participants are expected to download and have access to the course GPX file during the race. The 50k has a 10-hour overall cut-off and aid station cut-offs to help keep runners on pace. Water stops: half marathon at 5.5, 9.5, and 10.75 miles; five-miler at 3 miles. Porta-potties are provided at the start and finish. Limited parking is available. Dogs and headphones are not allowed. Packet pickup is available on race day.
