Monster of Mazinaw Trail Race
Monster of Mazinaw Trail Race : Bon Echo Provincial Park
On September 19, 2026, trail races take place at Bon Echo Provincial Park in Cloyne, Ontario. The event includes multiple distances, including a 43 km race described as Canada’s shortest ultramarathon.
Courses run on a mix of wide groomed trails and technical, rocky single track. A significant back-country section contains rock, roots, and steep ascents and descents; runners should be prepared to go 12 to 14 km without aid and may encounter stretches up to 17 km between aid stations. The 2026 route will differ slightly from 2025 but will be similar in route, elevation, and terrain; GPX files from 2025 are provided for reference.
The race is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario. Event partners include a shoe brand offering demos and prizes, and a local nutrition company supplying gels made from maple syrup, tahini, sea salt, and rowanberry extract.
Aid stations provide water, an electrolyte drink, PB and J, and sweet and salty snacks. All events are cup less so runners must bring a collapsible cup or bottle. Registration is capped at 250 participants. Entry fees cover a race tee, bib, a custom finisher medal for completers, and aid station food and drinks. Park admission is not included in the race fee.
The refund policy offers a 100% race credit up to 30 days before the event; cancellations within 30 days are not accommodated, but bib transfers are allowed without penalty. The event description also highlights Mazinaw Rock, a 100 metre cliff with some 260 pictographs recognized as a National Historic Site.
