Monster of Mazinaw Trail Race

Event overview

The Monster of Mazinaw Trail Race will take place on September 19, 2026 at Bon Echo Provincial Park, Cloyne, Ontario. The event offers three trail distances: 43 km, 30 km, and 10 km. Registration is limited to 250 participants. The registration fee includes a race tee (choice of Unisex or Women's cut), a race bib, a custom finisher's medal for finishers, and food and drinks at aid stations. Park admission is not included with the race fee. Camping options in the park include tent sites, yurts, and roofed accommodations; campsites become available for reservation five months before the race.

Course and logistics

The courses run on a mix of wide groomed trails and technical single track, with much of the route described as rocky, rooty, and containing steep ascents and descents; trails will be slippery when wet. There are back-country sections where runners must be self-reliant and may need to travel long distances without aid - participants should expect to carry food and water in a hydration pack. Aid stations will offer water, an electrolyte drink, PB&J, and sweet and salty snacks. The event is cup-less; runners must bring a collapsible cup or bottle to fill at aid stations. GPX files from the 2025 event are available and the 2026 route will be similar. Wildlife in the park includes moose, black bear, porcupine, coyote, river otter, peregrine falcon, great horned owl, and white-tailed deer.
