Monsal Mash

Monsal Mash is a trail race that combines two contrasting sections. The first section follows flat, fast trails along Monsal Dale. The second section takes a direct line up and down Fin Cop before a final climb to the finish at Monsal Head. The course distance is 9.5 km with approximately 500 m of ascent.

The event is based at The Stables, Monsal Head, Bakewell DE45 1NL. Parking is limited; there is a paid public carpark near registration with public toilets and some limited street parking in Little Longstone. Organisers request car sharing and note that parking on Castlegate Lane B6465 is not permitted.

The race is licensed by the Fell Runners Association and is governed by FRA rules. Competitors must carry the mandatory kit listed in the race information; the requirement may be relaxed depending on conditions. The use of GPS navigation or poles is not allowed and running with dogs is not allowed. Breach of the rules can result in disqualification.

Additional event details include a minimum age of 18, a maximum capacity of 250 runners, prize categories for individual and team places, and prize sponsors Inov-8 Bakewell Store and Voom Nutrition. The event is new for 2026 and is sponsored by Rab. Entries are open from 1 July 2026 until 28 October 2026 with separate fees for FRA members and non members.
