Mica Run for the Rescues
The Mica Run is a community trail race held at The Ark in Denholm, QC. The event raises funds for animal rescues, including The Ark and local organizations such as Les Anges Gardiens des Animaux.
Three distance options are offered:
- 3 km Hound Hike : a short, relaxed loop.
- 5 km Sweet Spot : one full 5 km loop.
- 10 km Endurance Junkie : two loops for a longer effort.
The course is true single track with twists, rocks and roots. Trails are well marked; leaves are cleared from the route before the race and intersections use coloured flags for each distance. Organizers can provide a reference flag for colour blind runners on request.
Dogs are welcome but not required. Dogs may run on leash or off leash and their presence is expected at this event. There are no aid stations on the course due to limited volunteers, but water is available at The Ark and 10 km runners pass this point on their second loop.
Every participant receives a custom engraved wooden plaque. Prizes provided by sponsors are awarded at random. A post race meal is served featuring burgers, brownies, ice cream and beer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
