Merritt Backyard Ultra
Merritt Backyard Ultra 2026
The Merritt Backyard Ultra is a community-based running event located at 2999 Voght St in Merritt, British Columbia. The competition serves as a fundraiser with all proceeds going directly to the Cops for Kids foundation.
The event follows a specific backyard ultra format centered on a 6.7 km loop. Participants can choose to enter as individuals or as part of a team consisting of 2 to 4 members.
Individual Race Participants are required to complete the 6.7 km loop within one hour. A new loop starts exactly at the top of every hour. To remain eligible for the next loop, runners must return to the start area before the hour expires. This process repeats until only one runner remains. The final winner is determined once they successfully complete one solo loop. Any time remaining after finishing a loop can be used for resting and eating.
Team Race Teams of 2 to 4 members operate on a relay basis where only one member runs per loop. The designated runner must finish the loop within the hour for the team to stay in the competition. Team entries are permitted to complete a maximum of 24 loops.
