Merced River Canyon Run

The Merced River Canyon Run takes place in Briceburg, California, and offers participants two distinct courses through the Merced River Canyon. Both routes utilize hard-packed unpaved roads and pass through the local scenery of Mariposa County.

Available event distances include:

  • 5 mile McCabe Flat flat out
  • 9 mile Burma Grade hill climb

The 5 mile course is an out-and-back route starting at the Briceburg bridge, reaching the McCabe Flat campground, and returning. This section of the course is noted for its flat terrain relative to the surrounding foothills.

The 9 mile course also uses an out-and-back format, beginning at river level and ascending the Burma Grade for 4.5 miles before returning. This route provides the highest elevation gain of any foot race in the county.

For those traveling to the event, access is recommended via highway 140 to reach Briceburg. Other local routes are available but are not advised for race day travel. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
