Merced River Canyon Run - Burma Grade and McCabe Flat

The Merced River Canyon Run in Briceburg, CA, is scheduled for April 4, 2026. The event offers two out and back road races on hardpacked unpaved roads through the Merced River Canyon.

  • 5 mile McCabe Flat : from the Briceburg bridge to McCabe Flat campground and back (2.5 miles each way). This course is described as as flat as a foothills race can be and can be run at any pace.
  • 9 mile Burma Grade : starts at river level and climbs Burma Grade, then returns (4.5 miles each way). This race is noted as providing the most elevation of any foot race in the county.

Both courses follow unpaved but hardpacked roads and pass through canyon scenery. For access, Highway 140 is the recommended route to Briceburg; other approaches are not recommended, especially on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
