Event Overview

Merapi Merbabu de Trail is a trail running event held on Mount Merbabu in Central Java, Indonesia. The race course is 100% on trails through various terrains with panoramic views of Mount Merapi in the background.

Race Categories

The event offers four race categories:

• 30K OPEN & 30K MASTER (40+): Both cover a distance of 30 kilometers with a total elevation gain of 3222 meters. The cut-off time is 18 hours.
• 15K: This category covers 15 kilometers with an elevation gain of 1650 meters and an 8-hour cut-off time.
• 5K: This category covers 5 kilometers with an elevation gain of 575 meters and a 3-hour cut-off time.

Dates and Location

The event takes place over multiple days. The 30K categories are scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2026. The 15K and 5K categories are scheduled for Sunday, August 2, 2026. All races start and finish at Simpang PB VI, Selo, Boyolali, Central Java.

Registration and Entry

Registration includes race entry, a running t-shirt, a personalized BIB/chip, a finisher medal, access to aid stations, medical care, and post-race refreshments. Runners in the 30K categories also receive a running jacket, and 15K & 30K finishers receive a finisher tee. Early bird discounts are available. Registration opens in February 2026 and closes in June 2026, or earlier if participant slots are filled. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Requirements and Rules

Participants for the 30K and 15K categories must submit proof of completing a qualifying race of a minimum distance (20k for 30K, 10k for 15K) within the two years prior to the event. A medical certificate is required to complete registration. All runners must carry mandatory gear, including a hydration system, suitable clothing for cold weather, a mobile phone, and personal food.
