Merbabu Trail Run
The Merbabu Trail Run is a mountain running event held on the slopes of Mount Merbabu in Central Java. The course traverses a variety of high-altitude environments, including lush rainforests, narrow ridgelines, and overhanging rock formations. Participants navigate technical volcanic soil and rocky mountain trails that lead toward a summit of 3,145 m.
The event features multiple distances where runners face significant elevation changes. The longest distance involves approximately 60 km of racing with a total elevation gain of up to 3,145 m. The route is characterized by sustained climbs and technical descents across open terrain and vast savanna ridgelines. Because the course is largely unsheltered and high in altitude, participants encounter variable mountain weather conditions, including wind and cold.
Logistical arrangements provided for the event include shuttle services, accommodation information, and a carbo-loading session. Participants are required to provide a medical certificate and sign a waiver to compete. The event infrastructure includes detailed course maps and elevation profiles to assist with preparation for the volcanic terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
