Event status and date

The Making Turtle Tracks beach 5K scheduled for Saturday, September 27, 2025 in Panama City Beach, FL was cancelled for 2025. Organizers offered registrants the choice to convert registration fees into a donation or to receive a refund. The event organizers plan to return in 2026.

Event details

The 4th annual Making Turtle Tracks was a beach 5K Fun Walk/Run organized by Gulf World Marine Institute, Inc. and Panama City Beach Turtle Watch. The route was on the sandy beach at Beach Access 52 near the Barefoot Hide-A-Way Restaurant (15405 Front Beach Road): participants would walk 2.5K east toward Bid A Wee Beach and then return for a total of 5K. The event was set up on the sand only, not on the adjacent paved road. Parking was available at Gulf World Marine Park and a crosswalk is located at the intersection of Hills Road and Front Beach Road. All proceeds were designated for sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation at Gulf World Marine Institute. Registrants by September 12 were guaranteed an event T-shirt; day-of registration carried an increased rate and could not be guaranteed a shirt. Water stations and goodie bags were planned, and the route included information about local sea turtles, shorebirds, marine mammals, and other coastal wildlife.
