Course and logistics

The course covers 5K and includes approximately 1,100 feet of elevation gain. The route follows winding forest trails and features a one-third mile river crossing on the Embarras River where, in July, water typically ranges from ankle to knee deep and exposes sandy bars and rocky riffles. A steep climb known as Billy Goat Hill is located near the finish. Registration is limited and closes on July 20. Organizers recommend bringing footwear suitable for wet and sandy conditions and planning for hot weather, including hydration and sun protection.
