Courses and support
Course characteristics: the 10K includes about 630 ft of elevation gain and passes two waterfalls, a bluff overlook, and Rock Creek on single-track trails. The half marathon has more than 1,400 ft of elevation gain, including about 800 ft over 7 miles, then finishes on the 10K section. The 50K follows the half marathon for about 10 miles, continues to the Nickajack section, reaches High Point, loops back into the Core Preserve, and has about 5,000 ft of elevation gain. Much of the back half of the 50K is on private property and is not accessible before race day; hiking poles are allowed. There are eight aid stations on the 50K (first at mile 7), most stocked with water, Tailwind, sodas, sandwiches, snacks, fruit, and gels; aid station 5 provides water only and is under 2 miles from the next. Crew parking is recommended at the Nickajack Trailhead for access at miles 12 and 24. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
