LOViT Trail Marathon
The LOViT Trail Marathon takes place on the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail near Mount Ida on December 5, 2026. The event is part of the AURA Ultra Trail Series and runs on single-track footpath terrain with no significant creek crossings. Because it is hunting season, participants are required to wear something orange.
Distances:
- 26.2 miles (marathon)
- 13.1 miles (half marathon); finishes at Hickory Nut Mountain, free shuttle to the starting area
Six aid stations are positioned along the course offering water, Gatorade, and assorted snacks. Drop bag service is available. There is no application or entry fee; participants sign a waiver and a donation can is provided to cover run expenses. Participants keep their own time and check in at the finish.
Location and logistics note the start on Shangri La Drive on Lake Ouachita near Mount Ida. Shangri La is described as 25 miles west of Hot Springs and 12 miles east of Mount Ida off Hwy 270; the first left after turning onto Shangri-La Drive is OLD HWY 270. Registration and parking are set up about 500 feet down OLD HWY 270 with additional parking along the road. The Shangri-La Resort will not be renting rooms due to a remodel.
