Run LOViT is an endurance trail event held on the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail near Mountain Harbor Resort, Hot Springs, Arkansas. Distances offered:
- 100 Mile
- 100K
Course and conditions
The course follows out-and-back sections of single-track and dirt road along the southern rim of Lake Ouachita through the Ouachita National Forest. The trail is rocky with rolling hills and ridgelines and has received IMBA Epic Trail designation. Surface conditions include substantial rocks, roots, and ruts. Climbs average between 50 and 150 feet per mile (roughly 2,500 - 7,500 feet per 50 miles). Average temperatures at this time of year are listed as high 60F and low 35F. Runners are required to carry a water bottle or hydration pack and a light source when running in the dark; a backup light is strongly suggested.
Support, logistics and rules
The event provides manned aid stations: 13 on the 100K and 22 on the 100 Mile course. Drop bags are accepted for Start/Finish, Tompkin's Bend (100 Mile only), Crystal Springs Pavilion, and Avery Rec Area and must be labeled with runner name, race number, and aid station. Pacers and safety runners are allowed in specified pacing sections; safety runners may be picked up or switched at designated crewable aid stations (approximate mile locations are listed for both distances). Finishers receive event shirts and race swag; 100K finishers receive a medal and 100 Mile finishers receive a custom finisher's buckle. The event is organized by a nonprofit and directs proceeds to local trail development. Live race tracking is provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
