Route, kit and logistics

The route starts at Harneys Cross Road Junction and follows the Glenpatrick Bridge Loop toward the Lough Mohra and Rath Beag Loop. The return route uses a slate quarry trail from the R678, emerges on Kearneys Road and re-enters woods at Glenpatrick Bridge, then heads towards Boola Bridge and finishes back at Harneys Cross. Terrain includes trail, road, forest, open mountain, fire road, single trail, rocks, bridges, lake and stream, cattle grids, mud, uphill, downhill and undulating hills.

Mandatory kit is Level C - Advanced: waterproof jacket with hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, means to carry a minimum of 500 mL water, emergency food, map of route/area and compass. All runners must bring these items; final kit may be advised at registration on the day and random checks may be carried out.
