Lough Mohra

Lough Mohra is a mountain running event located in County Waterford. The race features a fully marked route that traverses a variety of landscapes including forest, open mountain, fire roads, and single trails. Participants encounter a mix of surfaces such as rocks, muck, and cattle grids while following a course that passes alongside the Glasha River and Lough Mohra.

There are two course distances available:

  • 15.60 km
  • 5.00 km

The main 15.60 km route involves a total ascent of 450 m. The race starts at the Harneys Cross Road Junction and enters the Glenpatrick Bridge Loop. Runners head toward Lough Mohra and the Rath Beag Loop before entering a slate quarry trail. The path continues through the woods at Glenpatrick Bridge toward Boola Bridge and returns to the finish at Harneys Cross.

All participants must carry or have access to standard Level B mandatory kit. This equipment includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a foil blanket or bivvy bag, and a charged mobile phone with emergency numbers stored. The final requirements for what must be carried on the day are determined by the organisers based on local conditions.
