The Lough Mohra mountain run takes place in County Waterford on Sunday, 19 April 2026. It is a 16 km route with 550 m of total ascent. The event is part of the Coillte Summer/Autumn Trail League for the Munster region.

Course Details

The route starts at Harneys Cross Road Junction, entering the Glenpatrick Bridge Loop. The course goes towards Lough Mohra and the Rath Beag Loop. On the return from the lough, the route enters a slate quarry trail from the R678, leading out to Kearneys Road. Participants then enter the woods at Glenpatrick Bridge and head towards Boola Bridge, finishing back at Harneys Cross. The course follows part of the Glasha River and includes varied terrain: trail, road, forest, open mountain, fire road, single trail, rocks, bridges, and muck. It features both uphill and downhill sections and undulating hills.

Mandatory Kit

All runners must bring Level C (Advanced) mandatory kit to the race. The list includes a waterproof jacket with integrated hood and taped seams, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone, foil blanket or bivvy bag, waterproof full leg cover, a means to carry at least 500 mL of water, emergency food, a map of the route/area, and a compass. The specific kit to be carried during the race will be finalized on the day based on conditions and announced at registration. Runners must have the means to carry all required kit. Random checks may be conducted, and failure to have the items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification.

Getting There and Parking

Harney’s Cross is located between Clonmel and Rathgormack. Parking is available at Powers the Pot Camping (E91 F782), approximately 1 km downhill from the registration point. A voluntary contribution of €2 at the gate is suggested. Toilets are available at the camping site.
