Litton Birks Fell Race
The Litton Birks Fell Race is an AS category fell running event located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The route covers a 5 km distance and includes approximately 362 m of ascent. The course passes through the landscapes of Littondale and Upper Wharfedale. Registration and the subsequent prize giving take place at the Queens Arms pub in Litton.
The event offers several race distances to accommodate different age groups:
- 5 km with 362 m of ascent for seniors (minimum age 17).
- 3.2 km with 219 m of ascent for the under 17 category.
- 1.9 km with 103 m of ascent for the under 14 category.
- 1.6 km with 63 m of ascent for the under 12 category.
- 0.8 km with 22 m of ascent for the under 9 category.
Participants in the junior categories must be at least 6 years old on the day of the event. While senior entries are handled via a pre-entry system, junior entries are accepted on the day of the race.
Logistics include parking in a field located 300 m from the start line. Refreshments such as tea, coffee, and cake are available in a tent within the beer garden. Runners are required to bring specific safety equipment, including a map, compass, whistle, hat, gloves, and waterproof top and bottoms with taped seams.
