Litton Birks Fell Race
The Litton Birks Fell Race is a fell running event located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The course traverses the landscape of Littondale and Upper Wharfedale, starting and finishing near the Queens Arms pub in Litton. The senior race is classified as an AS category event, consisting of a 5 km route with approximately 362 m of ascent.
Registration and the award ceremony take place at the local pub. Facilities include a beer garden tent providing beverages and snacks. Parking is provided in a field situated 300 m from the start area, and participants are encouraged to car share.
The event offers several race categories based on age:
- Senior Race: 5 km distance with 362 m climb (minimum age 17)
- Under 17: 3.2 km distance with 219 m climb
- Under 14: 1.9 km distance with 103 m climb
- Under 12: 1.6 km distance with 63 m climb
- Under 9: 0.8 km distance with 22 m climb
The junior races have a minimum age requirement of 6 years on the day of the event. Participants in the senior race must be prepared to carry mandatory safety equipment, which includes a map, compass, whistle, hat, gloves, and waterproof top and bottoms with taped seams and an integral hood.
