Lincoln Memorial Garden Trail Race
The Lincoln Memorial Garden Trail Race 8K is an annual running event held in Springfield, Illinois. The course is situated entirely within the historic Lincoln Memorial Garden, taking participants through scenic pathways, trails adjacent to Lake Springfield, and the grounds of the Ostermeier Prairie Center. The 8K route primarily consists of wood-chipped trails, fine-chip gravel, and grass, with a short section of gravel driveway and several wood-plank bridges. Because of these bridges and some paved surfaces at the start/finish area, this is a no-spike race.
The event offers the following distances:
- 8K Trail Race
- Kids Fun Run
The 8K Trail Race is limited to a maximum of 300 participants. Runners in this category receive a shirt and a wooden medallion upon completion. Awards are presented to top overall finishers, masters runners (40 and over), and the top three finishers in various age brackets ranging from 19 and under to 70 and over.
The Kids Fun Run takes place at Cawley Meadow with courses designed around a pond. Distances are categorized by age: children 4 and under run 34 yards, those aged 5-7 run one lap (225 yards), and children 8 and over run two laps (415 yards). Every child receives a t-shirt and a finishing medal. Post-race food and drinks are provided for all participants. Registration is conducted exclusively online, as there are no on-site manual registration facilities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
