Lincoln Memorial Garden Trail Race 8K - Springfield, IL

The Lincoln Memorial Garden Trail Race 8K is scheduled for May 30, 2026, at the Lincoln Memorial Garden, 2301 East Lake Shore Drive, Springfield, IL. The event program includes an 8 kilometer trail race and an associated Kids Fun Run held around the Cawley Meadow pond.

Distances:

  • 8 km (4.97 miles) trail race entirely within the Garden
  • Kids Fun Run with heats of 34 yards, 225 yards, and 415 yards by age group

The 8K course runs along scenic Garden pathways, beside Lake Springfield, and through the Ostermeier Prairie Center grounds. Surface types include wood-chipped trails, fine-chip gravel, grass trails, a short gravel driveway, and several wood-plank bridges. Spiked shoes are not permitted because they can damage bridges and paved areas.

Online registration opens February 1, 2026. The 8K has a 300-person participant limit; the Kids Fun Run has no participant limit. Early 8K registration and later pricing, signup fees, and packet pickup details are provided by the organizer. Each 8K registrant receives a shirt and a wooden medallion; food and drinks are provided to participants after the race. Kids receive a t-shirt and a finishing medal.

Awards are planned for top finishers including winners in gender and age categories; select prize cards will be awarded. The event notes there is no scheduled rain date and no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
