Freedom Run 2026 is a running event on July 4, 2026, held at Centennial Park in Springfield, Illinois (5529 Bunker Hill Rd, 62711). The event includes the following distances:
- 5K
- 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk
- 10K
Fastscore Race Timing and Productions presents the event commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence. All races are chip-timed and begin at the top of Centennial Park Hill with the finish at the bottom on the south side of the hill.
Course, logistics, and post-race
The 5K route extends through a wildlife sanctuary. The 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk follows a shortened route and does not enter the wildlife sanctuary. The 10K uses the Sangamon Valley Trail for part of the course. Course maps are provided and the route will be marked along the way.
Race-day packet pickup starts at 6:15 AM near the finish line at the Sangamon Valley Trail and Bunker Hill Road trailhead. After the finish there will be breakfast food and drinks available.
Swag and awards
Every participant receives a commemorative finisher t-shirt and medal. Awards are given to the top overall male and female finishers and to top finishers in 10-year age brackets from 10 and under through 80+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
