Rise Up Hero Trail Runs at Settlers Cabin Park

Rise Up Hero is a loop-based trail race at Settlers Cabin Park in Pittsburgh, PA, using the same route as Last Trail Standing but started in the opposite direction. The course runs almost entirely on trail through woods, with rocks, roots, and rolling terrain. Trails are described as well marked and aid stations are fully stocked.

All distances start and finish at Algonquin Shelter. Gilbert Love Shelter sits 7.75 trail miles from Algonquin and serves as the aid station and turnaround for the 25K and 50K. Although Algonquin and Gilbert Love are about 200 yards apart on a map, the connecting trails are rugged and technical.

Race distances

  • 50K : Two 15.5-mile loops, ~4600 ft elevation gain, 9-hour cutoff
  • 25K : One loop to Gilbert Love and back, ~2300 ft elevation gain
  • 8 Miler : Runs past Gilbert Love aid station, finishes at Algonquin Shelter
  • 5K : 5K loop starting and finishing at Algonquin; trained dogs allowed

Two major aid station locations are on course, with maximum distance between stations under 8 miles. 50K drop bags are located at Algonquin. Hikers are welcome in the 25K, 8 Miler, and 5K. Professional race timing is provided and finisher medals are awarded. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
