Last Skier Standing

Last Skier Standing is an endurance ski event held in Rumford, ME on the Allagash Trail. The main loop climbs roughly 1.5 miles with about 1,200 feet of vertical gain per lap. Participants may attempt extended efforts such as 6, 12, or 24 hour efforts and can track total vertical gain.

The venue includes large event tents with tables, propane heaters, chairs, blankets, electricity, lights, and space for personal crew stations. Event parking is directed to an overflow lot. Check in is located in the old base lodge. There are six bathrooms near the tent area.

Safety and mandatory gear are emphasized. All participants must wear a visible bib on a bib belt and a snow rated helmet. Headlamps are required for nighttime laps and reflective armbands will be issued to those who ski after dark. A medic will be onsite. Event rules restrict unsafe skiing and certain types of accompaniment on course; violations may lead to disqualification.

Volunteers assist with warming, food and hydration, basic gear fixes, drying boots and skins, and a charging station with loaner power bricks. Provided food and drink items include hot water, coffee, hot sports drink, soup, chips, chocolates, bagels, sandwiches, and breakfast items. Organizers may make minor course or schedule adjustments if needed to maintain safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
