Course, logistics and rules
All distances begin along the shoreline of Kentucky Lake at Lighthouse Landing and run about 2 miles to the Land Between the Lakes trailhead. The main Canal Loop is approximately 11.3 miles, mostly single-track on packed dirt with rolling hills on the Lake Barkley side and larger hills on the Kentucky Lake side. The route offers views of both lakes. Course markings: the Canal Loop uses blue markers; connector trails use yellow lettered markers.
Loop structure for each event: the 23 km runs one loop, the marathon two loops, the 60 km three loops, and the 50 mile four loops plus a 0.62 mile out-and-back section after the fourth loop. There is a 12-hour limit on all races. Participants who miss published cut-off rules for final loops will be directed to return to Grand Rivers for the finish and will receive a time and award for the distance completed.
Packet pickup, a pre-race pasta dinner, parking assistance, porta-john locations, and post-race food at the Grand Rivers Community Center are part of race logistics. Awards include buckles and medals for specific distances and lifetime-mile recognition. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
