Lake Mingo Trail Run

The Lake Mingo Trail Run is the 28th annual edition established in 1999 and held on June 13, 2026 at Kennekuk Cove County Park in Danville, Illinois (22296 Henning Rd). The main event is the Lake Mingo 7.1 mile trail run that follows a route around Lake Mingo and crosses an earth dam.

The course surface is approximately 90% trail, 7% grassland and 3% rock and asphalt. Runners encounter numerous hills, nine bridges and marshland through deep woods. Wildlife that may be seen along the route includes deer, wild turkeys, geese, wood ducks, snakes and great blue herons. Depending on conditions, sections can be wet and muddy or hot and dusty; a creek crossing is possible if a bridge is washed out.

There is one aid station located about halfway on the course offering water, various beverages and limited snacks. The event has no time limit. Finisher medals will be presented to the first 150 runners at the finish. Age group awards are to be determined.

Online registration is open until June 4, 2026. Race day registration and packet pickup are available on site for an additional fee; race day registration does not include the event shirt. Regulations note no bandits, radios, strollers or dogs, and no refunds or bib transfers. The organizer acknowledges the Kennekuk County Park staff, volunteers and sponsors.
