Course and logistics

The event distance is 7.1 miles and circles Lake Mingo. The route is mostly natural surface: about 90% trail, 7% grassland, and 3% rock and asphalt. The course includes numerous hills, nine bridges, marshlands, and an earth dam crossing. The direction of the course alternates by year: odd years are clockwise and even years are counterclockwise. Weather can affect conditions; mud or creek crossings are possible if bridges are impacted.

There is one aid station roughly halfway on course offering water, other beverages, and limited snacks. Packets include shirt, bib, and pins and are available on race day. Finisher medals will be presented to the first 150 finishers. Regulations state no bandits, radios, strollers, or dogs; no refunds or bib transfers; and no mailing of shirts or awards. A post-race party at the Hideaway Shelter will include food and keg beer. Nearby camping is available at Kickapoo State Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
