Grind on the Grid is a backyard ultra held in Wingate, Indiana, on a course measured at 4 miles 880 feet per loop. The course is an out and back with a short grass trail loop toward the end. Running surfaces include about 0.5 mile of gravel, 0.5 mile of grass, and 3.167 miles of road with decent shoulders.

The event uses the backyard ultra format where each loop starts precisely one hour after the previous start. Organizers give 3, 2, and 1 minute warnings before each start and all competitors must start at the bell. Each loop must be completed within an hour to be counted, including the final lap.

Competitors may not leave the course during a loop except to use restrooms. Portapotties will be located near the starting corral. No non-competitors are allowed on the course, and eliminated runners may not reenter the course. Personal aid during a loop is not permitted, though common aid stations are allowed. Artificial aids, including trekking poles, are not permitted. Slower runners must allow passes.

Organizers will track who finishes each loop but will not officially time each loop for individual runners. The winner is the last person to complete a loop; if no runner completes one more loop than everyone else, there is no winner. Tent and canopy setup is allowed the night before the event.
