Labor Day Trail Challenge
The Labor Day Trail Challenge takes place at McKinney Roughs Nature Park in Cedar Creek, Texas. The event offers five race options that use single-track trails and fire roads along the Colorado River and through the park's box canyons, meadows, and loblolly pine forests.
The course crosses four distinct ecosystems: Post Oak Savannah, Blackland Prairie, East Texas Piney Woods, and a riparian corridor. Runners can expect scenic river overlooks, technical single-track sections, and up to 469 feet of elevation gain on ridgelines and canyon trails. Aid stations are reported to be fully stocked with water, electrolytes, and snacks.
Timing is chip based. Every finisher receives event swag; half marathon and marathon finishers who finish within cutoff receive a custom rodeo style belt buckle and an event shirt. Medals are provided for other distances. Overall male and female winners in each distance receive a cowboy hat award.
The 8 hour relay pairs two teammates who complete as many loops as possible before the eight hour clock ends. Teams may alternate every loop, swap by hour, or choose another strategy. The relay includes a main exchange zone for tagging, refueling, and transitions.
