Course and format notes: The backyard ultra follows an hourly loop format; runners must complete each 4.167-mile loop before the next hour or be eliminated. A cumulative time tiebreaker determines the winner if multiple runners remain at the 24-hour mark. A secondary Loblolly Redemption loop (shorter loop) is used for runners redirected from the main course. The ruck event requires assigned pack weights for competitors and uses the same hourly format.
Trail characteristics: Routes use the North-South Trailway, Gideon Loop and Loblolly Loop with rolling terrain, a mix of single-track and wider trail sections, loblolly pines and lakeside views. Aid stations are provided regularly - every 2.1 miles on the backyard loop and approximately every 2.5 miles on longer courses - with full support at the start/finish. Event entries include timing, a finisher medal, race shirt (conditions apply), stocked aid stations, medical support and event photography. Free parking is available at the venue.
