The backyard ultra uses repeated hourly loops on the Gideon Loop via Swift Trail, with a cumulative time tiebreaker if multiple runners reach later hours. Runners return to the start/finish aid station after each loop. The event includes a Loblolly Redemption mini backyard loop for runners eliminated from the main course. The ruck event follows the backyard format with prescribed pack weights and a capped field.
Long course events use the North-South Trailway with aid stations approximately every 2.5 miles; the 50K has drop bag access at roughly 10 mile intervals. Trail terrain is rolling with moderate elevation changes and a mix of single-track and wider trail sections. Towering loblolly pines and lakeside stretches provide shade and water views, with noticeable autumn foliage.
Packet pickup is at the Lake Bastrop South Shore Park Pavilion on the days before and during the event. Included with registration are a finisher medal, race shirt if registered by Sep 15, chip timing, stocked aid stations, medical support, and race photography. Some park facilities and lodging are not included. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
