- Big Bastrop Backyard Ultra and Big Bastrop Backyard Ruck
The Big Bastrop Backyard Ultra is a last person standing format on a 4.16 mile Gideon Loop. Runners depart every hour and must complete the loop before the next hour begins; missing a cutoff results in elimination. The event uses a cumulative time tiebreaker if multiple runners reach the 24 hour mark. The main backyard event has a baseline 32 hour time limit with the director retaining operational flexibility to extend hour by hour.
A Loblolly Redemption loop (5.1 km) receives runners who fail the main loop; entry to that mini event is by conversion during the race rather than pre registration. The Last Rucker Standing follows the same hourly format with required pack weights of 30 pounds for men and 20 pounds for women and a capped field.
Aid stations are provided regularly: every 2.1 miles on the backyard loop and every 2.5 miles on longer point to point events. Race support includes chip timing, stocked aid stations, medical support, race photography, and finisher items for registered participants.
