The course uses an approximately 3.2 mile loop through forested areas, around a pond, and across some grassland. Trails include rock and wooden steps, surfaces of rock, mulch, dirt and small gravel, and a mix of steep and flat sections. Trails are marked with reflective signs and ropes. Hour races count the number of loops completed; winners are those with the most loops and the fastest time. All hour runners must start their final loop 20 minutes before the race cutoff and complete that loop.

One main aid station at the start/finish provides water, Gatorade, pickle juice, pickles, chips, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fruit, chocolates and other snacks, plus hot foods through the night. A small water table is available at the halfway mark. Packet pickup is available at The Runner in Arlington on July 22 and 23 and at the venue on race day. Rules note no dogs, strollers or bikes on the trails, trekking poles are allowed, the event is cupless, and entry fees are non refundable except for severe weather closures. Awards include finishers medals and placement medals across age categories and relay teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
