Ketchikan Running Club Trail Half Marathon
The Southeast Slosh is a trail running event hosted by the Ketchikan Running Club in the Tongass National Forest. The race begins and ends at the Ward Lake Nature Trailhead. Participants navigate a course that incorporates several local trail systems, including Perseverance Lake Trail, Ward Creek Trail, Pipeline, and Salvage.
The event offers two primary participation options:
- 13.1 mile individual trail half marathon
- Relay teams consisting of up to four runners
Relay teams are responsible for coordinate their own transitions and determining where each runner will start and finish their respective legs of the course. The event has a total time limit of five hours for all participants, which accommodates both runners and walkers. After this cut-off period, support at aid stations and finish line activities are not guaranteed.
The route includes four aid stations positioned at intervals along the trails. To protect the environment within the national forest, participants are required to stay on the marked trails and avoid littering. Pre-race bib pickup takes place at the Ketchikan Rec Center on the day before the event. Registration is available on the morning of the race at Ward Lake via cash payment only. This event operates under a Special Use Permit granted by the Tongass National Forest Service. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
