The Kodiak Mountain Series is a three-day stage race in Kodiak, Alaska. The event is listed as a stage race and team stage race with a total advertised distance of about 20 miles and total elevation gain near 8,000 ft over three days. Registration opens January 10, 2026. The event is sanctioned by USATF; cash prizes will be awarded to top finishers who hold USATF membership. Results are based on the sum of each participant’s times from all three races, with overall Men, Women, and Teams categories and no age divisions. A King of the Mountain award will recognize the fastest ascent in each race. The event is Trail Sisters approved.

Courses

There are three mountain stages with published distances and elevation gains. Course descriptions note single-track trails, alpine sections, and marked flagging in places where trails split. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

  • 5.91 miles, 2,238 ft gain - Heitman Mountain, one-way course, ridge section and descent past Heitman Lake.
  • 7.76 miles, 2,777 ft gain - Sharatin Mountain, starts at Red Cloud trailhead, alpine shale and summit, passes Shelly Lake.
  • 5.00 miles, 2,138 ft gain - Pyramid Mountain Loop, single track with flagged sections, ridge and road finish.
