Fort Assiniboine, Canada • 6 Jun 2026
Event overview
The Klondike Ultra is a weekend trail race held on June 6, 2026 in the Fort Assiniboine Sandhills Wildland Provincial Park area near Edmonton, Alberta. Courses are located within the provincial park and on adjacent private property. The event uses Wierenga flats as the start/finish staging area and makes use of the original Klondike trail in parts of the route. Each participant receives a tear-off meal ticket on their bib for one free food item. Race merchandise and camping items are made to order and available for pick up on race day.
Courses and distances
The routes run along valley bottoms near the Athabasca River and beside Clearwater Creek, then climb onto old wagon trails and ancient sand dunes. Trail surfaces include loose and packed sand, double track and single track. Vegetation and features noted on course descriptions include old growth cottonwoods and birch, moss-covered dunes, boreal forest single track, beaver crossings, a grave site and a trapper’s cabin along the original trail. Steep sandy sections slow uphill progress while descents can be faster on packed single track. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
