Kiss the Goat

Hazard, United States • 23 May 2026

Event Overview

The Kiss the Goat trail race takes place in eastern Kentucky, utilizing the wooded terrain of Perry County Park. Now in its fourth year, the event features two specific distance options held within the local trail system in Hazard.

The available distances include:

  • 10K (approximately 6.2 miles)
  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles)

Course Details

The courses consist of technical terrain with significant elevation changes, featuring both climbs and descents. The 10K route includes approximately 1,250 feet of climbing. Participants in the Half Marathon complete roughly 2,500 feet of total vertical gain. The Half Marathon is structured as two 6.56-mile loops, with runners reversing direction for the second lap. The 10K follows a single lap with a shortcut. Due to the technical nature of the fully wooded trails, trail shoes are recommended.

Logistics and Regulations

The race starts and finishes at the Horse Ring of Perry County Park. Parking is available at the Horse Ring and the nearby Extension office. While dogs are permitted at the general facility, they are prohibited on the race course itself.

Runners are expected to carry their own water, though coolers and snacks are provided near the start line area. Outside support from crews is only permitted at the start and finish area between laps. Participants using headphones must wait until four minutes after the start to put them on and are requested to remove them when approaching volunteers or the timing area. A strict no-littering policy is enforced across the entire course.

Awards and Cutoffs

All participants receive a finisher award upon completion. Podium medals are presented to the top three male and female finishers in both the 10K and the Half Marathon. For those participating in the Half Marathon, there is a specific cutoff time for beginning the second loop. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
