Event Overview
The Kiss the Goat is a trail running event taking place at Perry County Park in Hazard, Kentucky. This will be the fourth year of the event and the second year offering both a half marathon and a 10K distance.
Course Details
The event offers two trail race distances:
- Kiss the Goat Half Marathon
- Kiss the Goat Trail Run 10K
Both courses are fully wooded, with technical sections and significant climbing. The half marathon involves roughly 2500 ft of total elevation gain, while the 10K has approximately 1250 ft. The half marathon course consists of a 6.56 mile loop run in one direction, followed by the same loop run in reverse. The 10K course is one lap of a similar loop, with a shortcut. Trail shoes are highly recommended.
Event Information
The start and finish area is at the Horse Ring within Perry County Park. Parking is available at the Horse Ring and at the Extension office nearby. All participants receive a finisher award, and the top three male and female finishers in each distance receive a podium medal.
Participants are advised that this event is suggested for experienced trail runners or hikers. Dogs are not permitted on the race course but are welcome at the facility. Runners are recommended to carry their own water, though coolers will be provided. Snacks will be available near the start/finish area.
