Kingwood Ultras : Frenchtown, New Jersey

Kingwood Ultras is built around a two-mile loop at Horseshoe Bend Park, about three miles from Frenchtown, New Jersey. The loop runs through forest and open field, crosses small streams, and includes wooden bridges. Underfoot the trail is quasi-technical with roots and rocks, and each lap contains roughly 300 feet of elevation gain.

The event centers on a single Base Camp aid station that runners return to every two miles. Each entrant receives a 10' x 10' Base Camp space along the course, with nearby parking and access to porta-potties. Limited indoor-style sleeping cots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The course is marked at night with glow sticks and reflective ribbons, and mileage markers appear every quarter mile.

Food at the aid station includes typical ultra fare plus scheduled breakfast, lunch, and dinner options during the weekend. The race is cup-free; runners must bring their own bottle, cup, or hydration pack. Finishers receive one-of-a-kind wooden awards made from tree species on the course, and longer-distance finishers may receive handcrafted belt buckles using reclaimed course wood.

The event emphasizes a central, camp-style race atmosphere where runners, crews, and staff share a common hub and frequent return to the same aid resources. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
