Kesugi Ridge Traverse

Trapper Creek, United States • 8 Aug 2026

Event Overview

The Kesugi Ridge Traverse is an annual point-to-point trail running event held in Denali State Park. The 14th edition of the race is scheduled for August 8, 2026. The course begins at the Little Coal Creek Trailhead located at Mile 164 of the Parks Highway.

The event offers two distinct distances for participants:

  • 31 miles (Full Traverse)
  • 14.2 miles (Half Traverse)

Registration and Participation

Registration for the event opens on May 1 via an online platform. The entry process operates on a first-come, first-served basis rather than a lottery system. Participation is limited to a total of 100 entrants across both distances, with a target distribution of 50 runners in the Full Traverse and 50 in the Half Traverse. Once the capacity is reached, a waitlist is established for interested participants.

The registration fee is $85 plus processing fees. Because the event takes place within a state park and involves significant distances, the race is subject to specific organizational requirements and permits. The event is supported by local organizations including the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame and United Physical Therapy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
