Jackson River Scenic Trail Marathon and Supporting Races
The event is held on the USATF certified Jackson River Scenic Trail with the Intervale Trail Head in Covington, Virginia serving as the start and finish location. The trail follows an old Chesapeake and Ohio Railway railroad bed and runs alongside the Jackson River through small communities, cultivated fields, and patches of woodland. The surface is smooth crushed gravel and the route is mostly flat with some light hills. Wildlife can be seen along the corridor.

Facilities along the course include restrooms or port a johns and hydration stations, with additional restroom and hydration access at the start and finish area. The event is held rain or shine; in cases of severe weather organizers will post announcements via the event website, social media, and local media and may contact registrants by email if there is sufficient notice.
Awards and hospitality at the finish area: all finishers receive a commemorative finisher medal. Unique awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers in each race. The top three male and female finishers in each age group receive certificates; age groups are 12 and under, 13 to 18, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus. Awards are presented at the Intervale Trail Head after each distance for the top three male and female finishers and will not be mailed.
