The Jackson River Scenic Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k takes place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Covington, Virginia. The races start and finish at the Intervale Trail Head on the Jackson River Scenic Trail (1903 Dressler Dr., off US 220). Distances offered:

The course is USATF certified and follows an old Chesapeake and Ohio Railway railroad bed. The surface is smooth crushed gravel and the route is mostly flat with some light hills. The trail runs along the Jackson River through small communities, cultivated fields, and patches of woodland; wildlife may be seen.
Logistics and awards
The event is held rain or shine; announcements about severe weather will be posted on the race website, Facebook, and local media, with email notices if there is sufficient advance warning. Packet pick-up is scheduled at the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce & Tourism on the Friday before the race and on-site the morning of the race. Local vendors and services will be available near the Intervale finish area.
All finishers receive a commemorative finisher's medal. Overall awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each distance. Certificates are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age group: 12 & under; 13-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70+. Awards will not be mailed.
