The Icing on the Cake
The Icing on the Cake is a trail running event in the Shropshire Hills based at Carding Mill Valley near the National Trust tea rooms in Church Stretton. The route runs across The Long Mynd and through National Trust land and is described as fully marked; participants are advised to carry a map of the area.
Distances offered:
- 10K
- Half Marathon - 13.1 miles (one loop)
- Marathon - 26.2 miles (two loops)
Runners are expected to carry a rucksack with a minimum of 500 ml of water and a basic first aid kit. The event provides well stocked aid stations on course, a medal included in the price, and marshals at checkpoints. There is a cake competition for attendees to enter with their bakes.
