This fitness event takes place over five days at the Sydney Showground within the Sydney Olympic Park. The competition follows a standard format consisting of 1 km of running followed by one functional workout station, repeated eight times for a total of 8 km of running and eight distinct workout stations.
Participants can choose from several competition formats:
- HYROX Open or Pro (individual)
- HYROX Doubles or Doubles Pro (pairs)
- HYROX Relay (teams of four)
The event provides split timings for each workout station and displays live results on a leaderboard during the competition. All finishers receive a physical patch upon completion. Age Group award ceremonies are held for each division, and some Age Groups in the Pro divisions offer qualification slots for the World Championships.
The venue includes hydration stations on the course and opportunities for spectators to watch the races. Professional photography services are provided on-site using facial recognition technology to capture images of participants throughout their heat. Athletes have access to the venue on their specific race day; entry on other days requires a separate spectator ticket.
