The Hurricane Creek event in Joseph, Oregon offers multiple distances on a mixture of paved and maintained dirt roads. It is organized by Runners of the Sage under a special use permit with the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest.
Distances include:
- Half Marathon out and back, climbs from 4200 ft to 5100 ft.
- 5 mile out and back road run, covers the first 2.5 miles of the half.
- 5K out and back road run, covers the first 1.55 miles of the half.
- 1 mile kids run, free for ages 12 and under.
The half marathon course has paved sections for the first and final miles, six miles of maintained dirt road in the middle, and water stations near mile 3, mile 6.5 at Hurricane Creek Trailhead, and mile 10. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female overall finishers in each distance. Half marathon finishers receive a finisher medal.
Packet pickup is available at Quickhatch Provisions on the day before the race and at Joseph City Park on race day. Pre-registration pricing and shirt inclusion vary by distance; online registration closes on May 14. Weather can be variable in late May, so runners are advised to prepare for rain, sun, wind, or snow.
