The half marathon is an out-and-back route that starts near 4,200 ft and climbs to about 5,100 ft. The course surface is mixed: the first 3 miles are paved, the next 6 miles are maintained dirt road, and the final 3 miles are paved. The route offers repeated views of the Wallowa Mountains, Eagle Cap Wilderness, Seven Devils, and High Valleys. Aid or water stations are located around mile 3, mile 6.5, and mile 10.

Registration fees vary by distance and date. Half marathon early bird price through Dec 31 includes a shirt; later registration windows change the fee and shirt inclusion. The 1 Mile Hurricane Hustle Kids Run is free; parents are asked to register kids online when possible. Pre-registered half marathon entries receive a Tri Blend Bella Canvas unisex shirt; shirts are available for an extra fee for 5 Mile and 5K entries.

Packet pickup is available at Quickhatch in Joseph on the day before the event and at the race start before the event. There will be awards for the top three male and top three female overall finishers in each distance, and each participant receives a finisher medal. Weather can be variable in late May, so participants should be prepared for rain, sun, wind, or snow. A raffle is planned; presence at the event is required to be eligible. A point to point half marathon from Cove to Union in Eastern Oregon, mostly on gravel with nearly 1,000 feet of climbing. Aid stations are available after miles 4, 7, and 11 and there is no shuttle back to the start.

A mountain ascent in Joseph, OR: the course climbs 3700 feet over 4.2 miles to Mt Howard, includes a tram ride down and a finisher medal, and takes place on June 26, 2026 with limited entries and tiered registration fees.
