Hurricane Hundred K : event overview
The Hurricane Hundred K is a trail running event at Meeks Mountain Trails in Hurricane, West Virginia. The event offers two distance formats:
- 100K
- 100k Relay
The solo 100K covers roughly 62 miles on trail, run as six loops of 10.3 miles each. The course is entirely single-track mountain trail. The race command center, crew pit, and team hangout are located at the shelter in the back of the bowl. Crew, family, and spectators have nearby areas for hiking, biking, and playground access.
Format, prizes, swag, and registration
Solo runners complete six laps and will pass their crew between each lap. Pacers are permitted for the last two laps for solo runners. Relay teams are three-person teams; each team is issued one timing chip that must cross the finish line six times. Hand-offs must occur at the finish/start line. Team members determine lap order; coed teams must have a female run at least two laps. Each relay member covers about 20+ miles. Top relay teams in all-male, all-female, and coed categories receive hand-crafted awards.
The solo prize purse is $10,000 with a stated breakdown: $2,500 for first place male and female, $1,500 for second, and $1,000 for third. There is a $1,000 course record bonus for each gender. Registered runners receive a hoodie, a finisher’s award, a tote with sponsor items, and solo finishers receive a belt buckle. Registration is limited to 150 runners and listed tiered fees are provided. A 15% discount is available for active military, veterans, first responders, and family members with code "service".
