Hurricane Hundred K
The Hurricane Hundred K is a trail 100K and three-person relay held on Meeks Mountain Trails in Hurricane, West Virginia. The course covers 62 miles using six laps of a 10.3-mile single-track loop. Each loop has about 1,500 feet of climbing for a total of roughly 9,000 feet of elevation gain over the 100K distance.
- 100K solo - 62 miles on six 10.3-mile single-track loops
- 100K relay - teams of three, each running two or more loops
Solo runners may use pacers for the final two loops. Relay teams use a single timing chip that must cross the finish line six times and handoffs must occur at the start/finish area. Coed teams must include a female runner for at least two of the six laps. The event supports crew access, drop bags at the start/finish area, and a central team hangout at the shelter in the back of the bowl.
Two aid stations support the course: a start/finish station and an on-course station around mile 5 of each loop. Aid offerings include water, electrolytes, soft drinks, ice, sweet and salty snacks, and more substantial options at the central station. Packet pickup is available at Hurricane City Park and at the race shelter.
The solo 100K offers a $10,000 prize purse with a $1,000 course record bonus for men and women. Registration is limited to 150 runners and follows tiered pricing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
