The HOWL-O-WEEN Hairy and Scary Fest Zombie Run takes place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. The event is based at 1600 S College St and is a charity event with proceeds designated for Lucky Dawg Rescue Inc. The festival includes a Jog With Your Dawg fun run, a Pet Fair adoption event, a dog and dog/human duo costume contest, a Zombie 5K run, DJ music during the activities, and a live band performance in the afternoon.

Race format and rules

The Zombie run uses a flag-belt system where flags represent a runner’s health; losing all flags means a runner is considered infected, and finishing with at least one flag earns a survivor prize. Teams must consist of exactly three members; if any team member finishes with a flag, the first entire team to finish with a flag receives the survivor medal. Individual medals are awarded for first through third place among those who finish with any flags. Dogs are not allowed in the Zombie race for safety. Animals brought to watch must be leashed and kept off the race route. The 5K Zombie Run entry fee is listed at $35 and the event is open to ages 12 to 99.
