Holly Springs Race Against the Sun

Holly Springs Race Against the Sun is a multi distance trail running and rucking event at Sugg Farm Park and Bass Lake in Holly Springs, North Carolina. The event takes place over March 6 and 7, 2027 and is presented for its third year.

The course is a single loop of 4.167 miles on trail terrain that circles Bass Lake and moves through Sugg Farm Park. The loop distance is used to structure several timed and distance options and to allow steady pacing over long durations.

Event options include:

  • 100 Mile with a 30 hour cutoff
  • 24 hour timed individual
  • 12 hour timed individual
  • 24 hour 6 person relay
  • 12 hour 4 person relay
  • 24 hour ruck division
  • 12 hour ruck division

The 100 Mile event carries a specified 30 hour cutoff. Ruck divisions require a mandatory gear check and continuous carrying of a pack each loop. Weight requirements for ruckers are 20 lb if the participant weighs under 150 lb and 30 lb if the participant weighs over 150 lb. The organizer notes this is not a Last Man Standing event and states that completing one full loop every hour yields 50 miles in 12 hours and 100 miles in 24 hours.
