High Country Turkey Trot 10K
The High Country Turkey Trot is the 16th annual running event held on the Boone Greenway Trail at Clawson-Burnley Park in Boone, North Carolina, on Thanksgiving morning, 11/26/2026. The event offers multiple participation options and community features including a live DJ, a photo-staging area, costume activity, and a picnic shed with food and hot drinks.

- 10K timed trail race
- 5K timed race
- Fun Run/Walk (untimed, paved)
The 2026 course has been updated to reduce elevation gain and improve terrain, with the 5K and 10K using mixed surfaces such as gravel, grass, and paved trail through the Greenway and Kennedy Trails. The Fun Run/Walk uses fully paved trails and is accessible to leashed dogs, strollers, wagons, wheelchairs, and other mobility aids.
Awards include prizes for the top three overall men and women in the 5K and 10K, age group awards, finisher medals for all 5K and 10K runners, and custom event T-shirts for entrants. A shirt-only "Sleep In" option is available. First aid is provided by Watauga Rescue at the start and finish area.
