High Country Turkey Trot 5K & 10K : 2026
The High Country Turkey Trot returns to Clawson-Burnley Park in Boone, North Carolina on 11/26/2026 for its 16th annual edition. The event includes timed trail races and an untimed fun run/walk on the Boone Greenway Trail and Kennedy Trails. Organizers updated the 2026 course to reduce elevation gain and improve terrain, which reduces hill climbs and provides more stable footing.

- 5K Fun Run/Walk (untimed)
The 5K and 10K races follow mixed terrain, including gravel, grass, and paved sections through woods on the Greenway and Kennedy Trails. The Fun Run/Walk uses fully paved trails and is accessible to leashed dogs, strollers, wagons, wheelchairs, and other mobility aids.
Awards and items: finisher medals are provided for all 5K and 10K finishers; prizes are awarded to the top three men and women in each timed race; top three in each defined age group also receive awards. All entrants receive a custom event T-shirt. A Sleep In - Shirt Only option supports The Hospitality House and includes a commemorative long-sleeve T-shirt.
Additional details: participants are asked to bring non-perishable boxed or canned food items. First aid is provided by Watauga Rescue stationed at the start/finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
