Hickory Knolls Trail Run
The Hickory Knolls Trail Run is part of the Dick Pond Athletics Darn Tough Trail Race Series and is held at the Hickory Knolls Nature Area within James O. Breen Community Park in St. Charles, Illinois on Sunday, June 7, 2026. The event offers individual and team options over looped trail distances and benefits the St Charles Park Foundation.
Distances
- 5K Run/Walk, one loop (approximately 3.1 miles)
- 10K Run, two loops (approximately 6.3 miles)
- 10K two person relay, each participant runs one loop (approximately 6.3 miles)
The course follows existing wide-track trails and pathways fully within the nature area. Surfaces include dirt, grass and gravel. Participants can expect uneven ground, exposed roots, partially embedded rocks and low branches. The route will be marked with spray chalk, directional signs and plastic pennants.
There is no water station on course for the 5K. 10K participants may get water at the start/finish area before beginning a second loop. Bottled water will be available at the finish. Washrooms are in the Discovery Center with additional toilets and possible porta-potties near the soccer fields. Parking is available in the James Breen Community Park lot near the Discovery Center; race day soccer activities may affect parking.
Awards are given for overall and age group placings and for relay teams. Packet pick-up is scheduled Saturday, June 6, 2:00–4:00pm at Dick Pond Athletics and on race morning at the site. Volunteers are requested to assist with bib pick-up, course marshalling and finish area tasks. A Brooks Podium performance shirt is included with registration subject to change.
