Hickory Knolls Trail Run
The Hickory Knolls Trail Run is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Hickory Knolls Nature Area within James O. Breen Community Park in St. Charles, Illinois. This is the sixth annual running of the event and the second of four races in the 2026 Dick Pond Athletics Darn Tough Trail Race Series. Proceeds benefit the St Charles Park Foundation and event sponsors include Dick Pond Athletics, Brooks Running, Pollyanna Brewing and Distilling, and Darn Tough.
Participants choose between individual and team options on a loop course that runs fully inside the nature area. Distances offered are:
- 5K Run/Walk one loop, approximately 3.1 miles
- 10K Run two loops, approximately 6.3 miles
- 10K 2 person Relay each participant one loop, approximately 6.3 miles
The course uses existing wide pathways over dirt, grass and gravel. The first portion of the loop is relatively flat with a couple of hills later in the route. The route will be marked with spray chalk, directional arrow signs and strings of pennants. Expect uneven ground, exposed roots, rocks and low branches. There will be no water station on the 5K. 10K runners may obtain water at the start and finish when beginning a second loop, and bottled water will be available at the finish. Washrooms are located in the Discovery Center and near the picnic shelter with additional porta potties possible.
Packet pick up is available Saturday, June 6, 2:00 to 4:00pm at Dick Pond Athletics and on race day at the site beginning at 7:00am. Awards include overall and age group winners with results posted at the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
