Hickory Knolls Trail Run

The event is the sixth annual Hickory Knolls Trail Run & Relay. It takes place at the Hickory Knolls Nature Area within James O. Breen Community Park in St. Charles, Illinois. The event is the second installment of the 2026 Dick Pond Athletics Darn Tough Trail Race Series.

Participants can choose from three trail race formats:

  • 5K Run/Walk (approximately 3.1 miles)
  • 10K Run (approximately 6.3 miles)
  • 10K 2-person Relay (each participant runs one 5K loop)

All races share the same start time. The course is a single loop of approximately 3 miles on grass and dirt trails through a natural area. The route is described as primarily wide-track on dirt, gravel, and grass, and is very well marked. The first part of the loop is relatively flat, with a couple of hills in the latter portion. There is no water station on the course for the 5K; 10K runners can access water at the start/finish area for their second loop.

Proceeds from the event benefit the St. Charles Park Foundation. The event is sponsored by Dick Pond Athletics, Brooks Running, Pollyanna Brewing & Distilling, and Darn Tough. Registration includes a Brooks Podium short-sleeve performance shirt. Awards are given for overall winners and age group placements in each race, and a race day raffle includes a chance to win Darn Tough socks.
