Herndon Turkey Trot 5K
The Herndon Turkey Trot 5K is organized by Herndon Parks and Recreation and takes place at the Herndon Community Center, 814 Ferndale Ave, Herndon, VA. The event is a community road and trail race held on November 21, 2026.
The course mixes trail and street running. Parking at the community center often fills, so participants should allow time for arrival and wear appropriate footwear for varied surfaces. All runners must complete the 5K within 45 minutes.
Registration is available online and on designated packet pick-up days. Pre-registration fees require a food donation and are listed as Adults (age 21 and over) $40 plus a can of food, and Youth (age 20 and under) $25 plus a can of food. Race day registration requires a food donation and is listed as Adults $45 plus a can of food, and Youth $30 plus a can of food. All donated food will be given to LINK.
Long sleeve race T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 450 pre-registered runners and must be picked up on race day; shirts will not be available after race day. Awards are given to first and second place in the listed age groups, and the overall male and female winners receive a top prize that includes a turkey. Registered runners age 21 and over receive a token beer after finishing courtesy of Aslin Beer Company. Strollers, bikes and dogs are not permitted in the race.
