The 2025 Herndon Turkey Trot is a cross-country style 5K held on November 22 at the Herndon Community Center, 814 Ferndale Ave., Herndon, VA. The race is open to participants age 4 and up. Runners must complete the 5K in 45 minutes or less. Points from this event count toward the Year-Long 5k & Back of the Pack Series and the Fall Series.

Race services and policies

The first 400 pre-registered runners receive a long-sleeve race T-shirt. Registration fees are listed by age: 21+ is $40 (race weekend $45) and 20 & under is $25 (race weekend $30). Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the race at the Herndon Community Center. Race day registration will be available; race day registrants are not guaranteed T-shirts.

Awards are given to overall male and female winners and to 1st and 2nd place finishers in age groups from 10 & under through 70 & over. Runners age 21+ receive a token for a beer from Aslin Beer Company after the race. Strollers, bikes, and dogs are not permitted. Runners are encouraged to bring a canned food donation for LINK Against Hunger. Live results will be posted on Athlinks and final series points will be posted the Monday after the race. Barrel Oak 3k & 6k at Barrel Oak Winery in Delaplane VA on April 19, 2026 offers on-site 3 km and 6 km courses plus virtual entries with medal and shirt options; walkers and leashed pets are welcome.

A *100-mile* ultramarathon on the C&O Canal towpath near the Potomac River, run as one ~40-mile loop plus two ~30-mile loops. Aid stations appear every 3–6.9 miles and the event is a WSER 2027 qualifier.
