Heavens Gate Marathon and Half Marathon

The event takes place in the Seven Devils near Riggins, Idaho, using trails around Cannonball Mountain and surrounding terrain. Courses follow ridgelines and canyon bottom trails and visit locations such as Blue Gulch, McRea Cabin, and Challenger Peak.

Distances offered include:

• 53K (33 miles) with about 13,000 feet of climbing; a mandatory kit and nutrition requirement, two manned aid stations and additional water stations.
• 26K (16.5 miles) loop with about 6,000 feet of climbing; one manned aid station and several water stations.
• Vertical 3K uphill race to Challenger Peak, one to two miles with about 2,500 feet of climb; free for entrants of the 53K and 26K, possible small entry fee for others pending US Forest Service permit approvals.

The vertical race starts at the Hatchery and Trailhead and finishes at the summit of Challenger Peak.
