Course and rules

The course is a 4.167-mile loop through Sleepy Hollow State Park, which covers over 2,600 acres and includes a river, prairie grass fields, hardwood forest, and stands of pine. The loop has about 151 feet of elevation gain. The 12-hour Back Yard Ultra uses a last-person-standing format: runners begin each loop on the hour and must complete the loop within that hour; if a runner does not start at the top of the hour they are out. The event is chip timed with live results and lap recording. There is no aid station on the course; one aid station near the start/finish will offer snacks and drinks. Awards include gift card prizes and trophies for overall and age-group placements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
