Headless Horseman BYU

Headless Horseman BYU takes place at Sleepy Hollow State Park in Laingsburg, Michigan. The course is a measured loop of 4.167 miles that passes prairie grass fields, hardwood forest, stands of pine, and a river within the park's roughly 2,600 acres. The loop has about 151 feet of elevation gain.

There are two event options:

• Single loop - one 4.167-mile loop
• 12 Hour Back Yard Ultra - repeated 4.167-mile laps; completing 12 hours equals 50 miles

The single loop is chip timed with live results for overall and age group places. The 12 Hour Back Yard Ultra records each lap with chip timing. Backyard ultra rules apply: runners start each lap at the top of the hour and must complete the lap within that hour; a runner who does not report and start at the top of the hour is out. The final overall winner is the last one standing or, if multiple runners finish the final lap together, the fastest final lap determines the winner. A headlamp is required for the later laps.

Aid is not available on the course; one aid station near the start and finish will provide snacks and drinks. Packet pickup occurs on race morning. Entries include event swag such as a T-shirt and patch, and 12 hour finishers receive an additional Headless Horseman finisher item. Awards include gift cards for overall and age group placings.
