Hard Times Trail Run : March 7, 2026

The Hard Times Trail Run takes place at Little Sac Woods Conservation Area east parking lot near Willard, MO. The event offers three distance options:

  • 8 Miler
  • 25K
  • 50K

The main loop for the 8 Miler is a lollipop-style course with almost 1,000 feet of elevation gain. The course includes runnable sections, downhills, climbs, small creek crossings, some briars, and many hills. Switchbacks are not part of the course. The 25K and 50K distances are run as laps with alternating directions on each lap ("washing machine style"). Race entry is limited to 60 runners.

Logistics and race rules

Two aid stations are provided: at the Start/Finish and at the halfway point (4 miles). Drop bags are allowed for 25K and 50K runners; all runners may leave personal belongings at the Start/Finish. Packet pickup is at the Little Sac Woods Conservation Area east parking lot on race day. Porta-potties will be available.

Parking at the race site is very limited. On-site parking is reserved for 50K runners; 8 Miler and 25K runners must park at Noble Hill Baptist Church (3285 W Farm Rd 36, Willard, MO) and use the provided shuttle van. A mandatory race briefing occurs 15 minutes before each start. The course closes at 5:00 p.m. and 50K runners must meet specified cut-off requirements to continue. Dogs are allowed on leash; no cats. Trekking poles are allowed. All proceeds support Headington Hill Classical Academy, a 501c3.
