Event Overview
The Hard Times Trail Run is a trail running event in Willard, Missouri. It takes place at the Little Sac Woods Conservation Area. The event is limited to 50 runners.
Distances and Course
The event offers three distances:
- 50K
- 25K
- 8 Miler
The main course is an 8-mile lollipop-style route. It has almost 1000 feet of elevation gain. The trail includes small creek crossings, briars, and many hills. The course does not have switchbacks.
Event Logistics
The race start is at the Little Sac Woods Conservation Area East Parking Lot. Parking is very limited on-site. On-site parking is only for 50K runners. Runners for the 8 Mile and 25K distances must park at Noble Hill Baptist Church and use a provided shuttle.
A mandatory race briefing is held 15 minutes before each start time. The course closes at 5:00 p.m. There is a cut-off for 50K runners to begin their final lap.
There are two aid stations: one at the Start/Finish and one at the halfway point (4 miles). Porta-potties are available. Runners can leave drop bags or personal belongings at the Start/Finish area.
Additional Information
All runners receive a shirt and a finisher's award. There is a deadline for registrations to be guaranteed swag or a specific shirt size. The event has a no-refund policy. Dogs on leashes are allowed. Trekking poles are permitted. Proceeds from the event support Headington Hill Classical Academy, a nonprofit school in Springfield, MO.
