Gunstock Mt. Snowshoe Race
The Gunstock Mt. Snowshoe Race is an athletic event held at the Gunstock Nordic Center in Gilford, New Hampshire. Participants navigate a course that is approximately 8 km in length. Registration for the event closes several days before the race date.
The course utilizes a variety of terrain including groomed Nordic trails and single track paths through the woods. The route begins in the Stadium and leads runners through the Cobble Mountain Loop toward the Maple trail. Participants experience steep climbs and descents as they move through the trail system, passing along the Birch and Rock-Loop trails. The latter provides views of the local bog and the Belknap Range.
The middle section of the race includes an ascent and descent of Cobble Crown Mountain via the Cobble Snowshoe trail. The final segment of the course returns to the groomed trails via the Overlook trail, continuing onto Crossbow and Quiver before finishing back in the Stadium. For navigation, the route is marked with red arrows in the snow, Nordic barriers, and orange pin flags positioned on the right side of the path.

Awards are provided for the top three male and female finishers, as well as winners in age group categories ranging from the under 10 division to 70 plus. A limited number of racing snowshoes are available for rental on a first-come, first-served basis for those who do not have their own equipment.
