Grow Wild Trail Run : Northland Arboretum

Grow Wild Trail Run takes place on August 22, 2026, at the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd, Minnesota. The event offers two distances run entirely on Arboretum property using the scenic trail system through forests, rolling terrain, and natural landscapes.

  • Half Marathon 13.1 Miles, two loops of the course
  • 10K 6.2 Miles, one shortened loop of the course

The event uses a gun start and professional chip timing provided by Pickle Events. Aid stations are planned and will include water and electrolytes: for the 10K at approximately miles 3, 5, and the finish; for the Half Marathon at approximately miles 3, 5, 7, 10, and the finish. A course map and elevation chart are provided and may be subject to change.

Packet pickup and an associated health and wellness expo are scheduled the day before at the Northland Arboretum Visitor Center. Day of packet pickup and registration are also at the Visitor Center. Registered participants receive an event T shirt and a finisher medal; a guaranteed T shirt deadline is August 5, 2026. All racers receive free Arboretum admission Friday through Sunday. Entry is limited to 400 participants.

Dogs are not permitted on the racecourse; dogs are welcome on Arboretum grounds when kept on leash. The event is a fundraiser for the Northland Arboretum supporting trail maintenance, environmental education, recreation, and conservation projects including a fundraiser for lighting the forest ice skating trail. A daylight endurance event in Baxter, MN where participants can complete one or more 5 km loops at Dean Makey School Forest. The event is low cost, has a marked course with water and toilets, and offers a smoother route option.

A community event on August 15, 2026 in the Brainerd Lakes Area pairing a 5K run on Northern Arboretum trails with the Walk A Mile In Her Shoes tradition. Proceeds support Sexual Assault Services and local survivor resources.
